Alison Kidd

Alison has a MA in Psychology from the University of St Andrews and a PhD in Psychology from the University of Sheffield. She spent 4 years at British Telecom Research Labs working on the psychology of communication technology before joining Hewlett Packard Research Labs in 1985. As a Principal Scientist at HP, Alison conducted psychological research into consumer values and behaviour which led to innovations in HP's PC and Peripherals business, influencing HP's thinking at Board level. She left HP in 2001 to set up The Prospectory with Peter. Alison has edited a book, published many academic papers and presented invited talks on her work at conferences, business seminars and universities. From time to time, she appears on BBC TV and Radio talking about her research. Alison is a Fellow of the Royal College of Arts.

Peter Williams

Peter has a BA in Pure Mathematics from The University College of Wales, Aberystwyth and an MSc in Computer Science from Brunel University. After working on early on-line systems and the first international financial data network he joined Hewlett Packard in 1979. He designed and helped develop the first commercial multi-node e-mail system, launched in 1981. In 1984 he joined Hewlett Packard laboratories to establish an office system research program and later to work on office appliances. He holds international patents in the fields of electronic mail, object oriented systems and device protocols. As a Principal Scientist at HP labs, his research influenced HP's business strategy for its peripheral and information appliance businesses. In 2001, he left Hewlett-Packard to set up The Prospectory, a new product consultancy organisation, with Alison Kidd.
