Ten minutes to kick-off
by Nick Holly
'Ten minutes to kick-off' is a painting commissioned from Swansea-based artist Nick Holly to celebrate
the Llanelli Scarlets' time at Stradey Park. It captures the atmosphere of a rugby match day at any time from
the 1950’s to the present day. The crowd is trickling in: children bounce with excitement
while adults make their way to their favourite seat, greet old friends and chat about the game
they are about to see.
Known as “The Welsh Lowry”, Nick Holly draws his inspiration from his local community in industrial
South Wales. Holly’s Naïve studies of everyday life are regularly exhibited in galleries such as
Oriel Pen-y-Fan, Brecon
Attic Gallery, Swansea and
Fountain Fine Art, Llandeilo
in Wales and in
London he is represented by The Russell Gallery.
His paintings appear in the National Library of
Wales collection.
